Over the Weekend

So...it's Friday and I'm finally getting around to posting about last weekend.

This week has been Cuh-ray-zeee. I work at a community college library...a VERY small library and school started Monday. Let me just say, I'm totally relieved it's Friday and I'm off already. I need to re-coup from all of the running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. Not to mention I began a 5 day Hospice training this week and it gets out pretty late at night. Late for me anyway.

Last Sunday, I took my mother and youngest sister to Oceanside, CA to visit my grandparents and my brother who were staying at a condo there for a few days on vacation. We had a BLAST! And that's saying a lot because I'm not a beach person...I hate the humidity in the summer, hate sand sticking to me...EVERYWHERE, and hate salt water. Hate is a strong word. But really, I very much dislike the beach more than any other place. Although, it is a beautiful sight.

Anyway, here are a few pics I was able to take during the day:

So there ya have it...and please poke fun at my ridiculously short bangs...Can't wait until these suckers grow out!

TGIF!

Weekend Pics

It's Sunday...and I've been fighting a migraine since I woke up yesterday morning. My stomach doesn't feel as queezy but my head is still pounding. I'm sitting here drinking Gatorade in hopes that I just need to replenish my electrolites...we'll see how that goes.

Lately I've been finding it difficult to sit down and update my blog. I have no idea why. Maybe it has a lot to do with my recent obsession with Swap-Bot? Anyway, it's time I get back into blogging a bit more. I miss it.

Here are a few photos from this weekend:

♥ Decorated Envelope that I just finished today for a "Mail Art" swap on Swap-Bot.
♥ My husband's cousin Angela is getting married next month (EXCITED!) and yesterday her sisters threw her a super nice, fancy Bridal Shower at one of her favorite restaurants in Brea, CA. It was fun! This is a pic of Angie and her mom...and I think it's her soon to be mother in law, Willie, and sister in law. I'm so bad at names. I never forget a face though!
♥ My mother in law, Adele and sister in law, Jenna. Such pretty ladies!
♥ What I wore...minus the belt, I think I swapped it for another leather belt. No pic though :(
♥ The newest addition to my mug collection--A UNICORN! When do you ever see Unicorns on a coffee mug? Almost never, right?! So...I HAD to buy it :)
♥ My mess of a craft space...I think I may rearrange it today to hopefully provide me with more room so that I can get another bookshelf or some kind of cubbie to keep my stuff organized.
♥ The baby Desert Tortoise that my husband found while riding our little 70 around. We NEVER see babies...and hardly ever see adults. We contacted someone who can raise him to be healthy and a bit bigger before he's released back into the desert. His chances of surviving as a bigger tortoise will be much better than releasing him as small as he is. Such a cute face!!
♥ My first ATC's...not sure if I did them right. Ehh.
♥ One of my newest journal entries...I just really like this photo. I think it came out of NYLON.

Hope you guys had a nice weekend! And cheers to a new week!

What I've Been Up To...

Since it rained off and on ALL day Sunday, I've been getting a lot things done around the house and I've completed quite a few little projects I'd been wanting to start. Recently I've taken up making bookmarks so that I can add them to little packages I send out in the mail.

I love getting extra little surprises in packages and letters!

I also played with and irritated my little friend, Irwin quite a bit these last couple of days. I just get so bored when my hands aren't doing something. Poor guy...he's just so darn cute, I can't leave him alone. He's gone into hiding under my nightstand since about 4:00 last night. I really had to work hard today to busy myself after work so that I didn't bother him. But I'm afraid I can't leave him alone for much longer!!

While garage sale-ing a few weeks ago, Cory spotted this little 70 and the guy only wanted $50 for it! Cory looked at me with his little puppy dog eyes and I fell in love with the bike too...and I didn't even know how to ride it! Well, he finally got it running on Sunday so he taught me how to ride it and change gears and all that stuff, then we went for a little ride up and down the wash around our house.

Let me tell you...

FUN!!!

I can't wait to go out again this weekend!

What did you do over the weekend?
Did it rain where you live?

From the Weekend...

Enjoying some joe from the latest addition to my mug collection
Sorry love, but Irwin's is the first face I see when I wake up in the morning. He's always up and ready for the day before I am.

Some recent snail mail I've found in my mailbox ♥
I love the donkey postcard!

Colorful outfit for the weekend :) I've been wearing so much black lately and there is absolutely no reason for it.

When Time Goes By Too Slowly...

Since July 5th...I've been house-sitting/cat-sitting/brother-sitting at my grandparent's house in Desert Hot Springs, CA while they are on an amazing road trip and visiting friends and family.

For the past few summers I have house sit for them and every time I agree to do it, I get really nasty angry/frustrated that I don't get to either go with them or get my own little vacation. I know this is completely selfish of me to think about but I've worked every summer since I graduated high school and have missed every trip to visit family and friends because I have to work to pay bills. But I know when I'm older, and either make more money, or retire I'll have the same chance to travel. Hopefully. It just sucks...and I guess I'm just venting.

Anyway, besides swimming in their pool, there is absolutely hardly anything to do where my grandparents live unless you have $$$$ to go shopping, or the like. I suppose we could head out to the beach for the day but I am extremely white am also still suffering from a horrifying sunburn from 4th of July weekend. The sun is my enemy at the moment.

So, I've been working a lot on future snail mail swaps for swap-bot. I've also finished decorating my new planner and blog/idea journal that I carry in my purse.

Please, I beg you....if you have any indoor suggestions for me to keep me busy, I would so desperately and gratefully appreciate them. I've caught up on reading a bit, and brought my Sudoku and Crossword puzzles with me but I still get bored.

Oh! My bro and I have also been working on this puzzle:

I wish my hubby could stay with us but he has to work during the week...he came to stay with us this weekend though and we had a little fun. Jake doesn't like swimming so Cory got in the pool with me on Saturday. We did a little adventuring at Kmart, Walmart, & Toys R Us in the lower desert and then headed back to my gma's house to relax and watch TV. I'm telling you...there ain't much to do.

Saturday Photos

Irwin was waving (talking) to Beast (Cory's Dragon) when I walking into the bedroom, lol. Although this warmed my heart and made me giggle...I couldn't help but be concerned for my little aloe plant. He was totally crushing it!

My new favorite snack--Greek yogurt & fruit.
I'm eating grapes here :)

Pomegranate flowers...you can see the pomegranate forming at the base of the flower. So pretty!

Half way through--I am now on Chapter 17!! It's definitely getting more interesting though. It's picking up a bit so I think I may be able to get through the second half much quicker than the first, lol.

Eating lunch at my best friend's mom's house in Rialto, CA
Mrs. Murcia makes THE best pollo con rice!
Yum!!

My bestie, Blanca & her new hubby Josue. They are too cute! So happy together

Mannequin from a discount clothing store we checked out while we were waiting for the next showing of Hangover II (by the way: not worth the awesome $5 to see--totally grossed me out).

Crazy Fun Saturday!

1. Stopped by a few yard sales on our way to the swap meet.
     * scored an awesome Coleman camp
stove and we got it for $3!!

2. Headed on over to the local Swap Meet--love this place!
I told Cory we should make it an every weekend thing. Super
   cool stuff!

3. Went in search of Horney Toads while we waited for my
sister in law and the kids to get home from the Grubstakes
   Days Parade.
      * Evan was so excited to show us his new pet! Plus
we hadn't had a chance to meet their new horses yet.

4. Got home, rested a bit, took a shower and got ready for a
night out to 29 Palms Theater to see the play "Barbequeing
Hamlet" with my sister in law and youngest sister.

It was a busy day--and super fun! Hope the wind isn't horrbile today and tomorrow. Why can't the wind just go away on the weekends? The past 3 weekends have just been too windy to do anything outside. It's so frustrating!

At least Saturday was an awesome day.

Do anything fun on your Saturday?!

Mom's Day Weekend

Mother's Day weekend was super busy...

Saturday
1. Clean room, wash laundry...the usual weekend chores.
2. Ride with Brother-in-law and his wife Amber down to Diamond Bar for Cory's cousin, Andrea's Graduation Party--she earned her Masters Degree! Awesome!!

Sunday
1. Finish up laundry
2. Finish up Mother's day gifts & cards
3. Drop my car off @ Wally World to get 2 new tires
4. BBQ @ Mom's house
5. Go back to Wal-mart to pick up & pay for my tires (I'd rather spend $150.00 on other things, but what can I do?)
6. Start and finish a paper that's due Monday after work...

Monday
1. Get to library as soon the doors open to work a little more on paper
2. Work
3. Try to work on paper and somehow finish
4. Class: find out paper is not due until next week...release a HUGE sigh of relief and silently curse @ myself for procrastinating.....
5. Bank
6. Gas
7. Home for Mother's Day dinner and a house full of family
We saw him on our dirt road...as we were leaving for Diamond Bar

...it was a long weekend...
Great memories!
