So Awkward...

There are sooooo many outfit posts and fashion bloggers out there in blogland and I so wish I could be just as fashionable, funky, & fun.

But I have to show this t-shirt that I bought at goodwill. I am so in love with it. I wish I could wear it everyday...

The only way that there could be a more awesome-r shirt is if a shirt had even wider stripes!

♥ This isn't a new find--my love for it has just re-kindled this past week. ♥

What is your favorite find that you just wish you could live in everyday?

Up-cycled Shirt

I love this burgandy v-tee I bought at Target...but my stupis seatbelt has rubbed holes in it. I didn't want to just throw it away so I thought I would cover the holes somehow. This is what I came up with--
It's a one-of-a-kind shirt now :) I don't know how to sew or use a sewing machine so my awesome mother-in-law, Adele sewed it together for me ♥

I LOVE IT! I wore it yesterday and got a few compliments!

I had to put craft glue around the edges of the owl--and I'm going to put some behind the buttons and PRAY that it doesn't fray or come unraveled.

I think it looks pretty fantastic--what do you think?

I just might have to invest in a little hand-held sewing machine for this kind of fun stuff.

Thanks Adele, for helping me with this fun project!

And I had to wear my:

Orange & Gray Monday

It's been a while since I've posted--my apologies. It's been a crazy busy few days since last Thursday, lol. My sis earned her CNA pin on Monday and I am in the process of editing the photos so be looking for them in my next post =)

Until then--here's what I wore to the event.
ACCESSORIES
Left: cute little owl pin Caity bought me on Sunday when we went on our hunt for Crystal's CNA gift(s). Bought it at Pioneer Crossing Antiques (my favorite antique store)in Yucca.
Right: Charlotte Russe orange flower earrings and little silver owl earrings I bought at a boutique in San Diego 2 years ago.
I bought the orange tank and belt from Angelview Thrift in Yucca and the gray cardi came from Wetseal/ wet seal in 2009.

Just wanted to give a little update and say hi...it's been a few days. I will post photos of Crystal's CNA pinning ceremony soon!

Have a good one!

Venting

My stupid bangs were being flippie this morning, Grr!

I bought this awesome silk shirt at Goodwill down in Cathedral City--Shhh...don't tell my husband but I may stop in tomorrow on the way home from work depending on how late it is!

Anyway...today was an OK day but I hope you don't mind if I vent a little.

Here goes--

Everything is online now! This is sort of exciting for me or anyone who would rather pay their bills, order things, check schedules or whatever else online but this is frustrating and sometimes darn scary for people who aren't used to using the computer or doing anything online.

I experienced this with my brother when I was trying to help him register for school, get an email address, etc. My brother is very smart but has some learning disabilities...he's getting a heck of a lot better at learning how to find things on google, ebay, etc. but still has a hard time with trying to remember usernames and passwords, and remembering to check his email.

The real reason I bring all this up is because I was helping someone in the library today with his online application for school. He really had no idea what to do with the computer and was even baffled with the mouse. I love helping people with these applications especially since I know how much it can be frustrating to fill out "paper work" but these applications ask for very personal information which I'm totally fine with except for the fact that we are in a very public place.

I just think that admissions & records should consider asking people if they need any assistance with filling out these things online--and provide someone who can assist. I remember I was doing this as a student worker too and I don't believe students should have access to other students' personal info, i.e. SSN's!

Even though the forms are pretty much self-explanitary, some of the staff in the library aren't even used to the online application and haven't ever filled one out...so in order for us to better assist patrons with these forms it would make sense to train the staff--but that's another issue.

I'm glad I was familiar with the form so that I could help him but I can see how some people may be turned off of school just because they get frustrated with the computer or the process.

I'm just venting. Overall it was a great day at work. There are just some things that eat at me and keep eating at me until I can vent a little. Now I'm totally good.

Not frustrated about it anymore.
Blurry by accident...must have been moving my head or something.
I haven't worn these shoes in Fo.e.vah.

How was your work day?

Pattern Mixing

It's Wednesday! This means the week is almost half-way over...yay! It also means that I need to study tonight for my Corrections exam tomorrow--Directly after work. I love that I work on campus...so I can just walk to class, but it really sucks that my classes start the minute my shift ends. This means I don't get time to study before class; unless the instructor is late--I got lucky once, lol.

Cardi: Thrifted; Gap
White button-up: Charlotte Russe...$5!
Bumble Bee Silk blouse: Hand-me down from Mother-in law ♥
Flats: Thrifted; Mossimo, Target
Jeans: Candies, Khols--and I hate them...I'm not buying skinny, stretchy jeans ever again!
Wait, I think I used a gift card. SWEET!

Pin: gifted...Walmart? me some owls
Earrings: Roses: Thrifted; Dragonflies: Gifted--Thanks Heather!

I think I'll do fine on my exam. I did pretty well on the last one and I was a little worried about it. I just need to do some reviewing and finish my study guide.

I'll let you know how it goes!

Weekend Recap & Monday Off

This weekend was amazing! Well, to start off--Saturday wasn't so amazing. It was windy & cloudy so we couldn't really do anything but clean, eat, & sit around the house. Poo. But Sunday really made up for the bust that was Saturday. Cory & I picked up my youngest sister, Caitlyn & drove out to Sunfair in 29 Palms to search for Horney Toads & Desert Iguanas. Horney toads have just started coming out of hibernation & we have been searching for them the past couple of weekends with no luck. Yesterday....we found 2! One male, one female...and 2 different colors! We were so stoked! We saw soooo many whiptails and tons of fringe-toed lizards, but still no luck finding any desert iguanas. After our find, we headed out to Coyote Hole in Joshua Tree to look for some Chuckwallas--there were tons of them out, we caught one, he was vicious! Then we let the mean guy go...we were really just trying to show Caity what they looked like, she had only seen them in photos before yesterday. Anywho--everywhere we walked we could hear the chucks' skin on the rocks as they hid in rock crevices. Oh! And on our way into Coyote Hole, Cor spotted a desert iguana sitting in a bush eating his wee heart out. So Cute! I love those guys, they really are so sweet. Peaceful creatures.

It was definately a great day for catching lizards! Thank goodness we didn't run into any rattlers.

1. possible tortoise den 2. Caity & the first fringe-toe we saw
3. Caity taking photos 4. the fringe-toe
little butterfly--something happened to his wing :(
 He was so pretty
1. The first Horn-dog we found 2. Gorgeous orange flowers
3. close-up of the cute little guys face 4. The second Horn-diggle we found. They don't try to get away like most lizards. They get really close to the ground and try not to be seen. They are really neat to observe...and they wag their little tails when they eat, lol.  'em!
1. the 2 horney toads, side by side so you can see their differences 2. Cor, he looks silly up their on that rock w/a stick, lol. 3. More pretty flowers 4. The chuckwalla we caught, he wasn't hiding very well. Their skin is so leather-like.
Some chucks hiding out in the rocks and one was sun-bathing.

& Today is Monday...and I'm OFF WORK!! Woot Woot! So that means I get to update my blog a bit & take the husband out to lunch on his break. Yay! More free time, lol. And somewhere in my day I need to finish my study guide for my Criminology test :(

Crap! Is my test today?!!
Better check! Geez.

'Member I said Saturday was a bust...and we stayed inside all day? This a project I worked on...I hardly ever wear these shoes, and I thought about painting them to look like saddle shoes--but this is what happened instead. I may paint them some more...haven't decided yet.

How was your weekend?

I'm wearing a SKIRT

Dun, Dun, Dun....

I never felt comfy in skirts. I've always liked them and envy every girl who look super cute in them--& every girl looks cute in them. I just feel a bit cumbersome in them, and every skirt or dress I've ever tried on has made me look very box-like, like a football player in a dress. I have bug hips and thick legs...and this combination with anything but pants and jeans just doesn't mix well.

Today, I'm either brave or really stupid
I'm wearing a skirt--the ONLY skirt that I own. I had a couple other cute, long skirts but I've gained 20 lbs. since I bought them and had to give them away :(
For some odd reason I look a bit sunburned in the right photo...as if the skirt wasn't bad enough, lol.

What do you think? Am I totally not a skirt person?
Be honest, lol!
Maybe I should find skirts that arent' so dang puffy--that's a start...or white. I may change, ugh.

Neutral

Today I felt a little on the neutral side...the only bright color I wore today besides white was my lime green NP. I wasn't all drab I guess, lol.

Cardi: Thrifted, i.e.
V-Neck T: Target, Mossimo
Brown Corduroys: Thrifted, Papaya
Wedges: Thrifted, Montgomery Ward

I have no idea why my limbs and feet look a freakish color...and please ignore my funky toes, lol!

My awesome Brighton Charms that my granny bought me for my 24th B-Day...♥ my little owl!
As you can probably tell...despite my neutral colors today, I am in a pretty dang good mood.

I think I may change into some tennis shoes & go for a walk down in the wash! This sounds like a wonderful idea--

I'll take my camera with me so I can show you what I find on my little adventure!
