Thrifted Finds

As promised, below are my thrifted finds from my week off from work at the library. I spend too much money when I get time off--BUT, it's been quite some time since I've really been able to enjoy thrifting.

And I have no regrets.

3 pairs of shoes AND a pair of super cute sandals in one thrifty outing--AMAZING! This never happens to me!

Oh & I'm totally dying over this green sweater right now.

I made another trip out thrifting today with my sister, Caity--so, I'll have to post those finds soon.

Awkward Outfit Post

It's been a super long time since I've done an outfit post--and I hardly do them anyway since I'm so awkward...and my timer really isn't working that great on my camera at the moment :(

So, I am super in love with this awesome greenish yellow sweater I found at Target last night for $5.95!!! I couldn't pass it up. Also in love with these nifty new flats from target--but I found them brand new at Goodwill last night also!

I found a few other nifty things at Goodwill but more on that later--I'm off to the dentist, AGAIN for another root canal.

Yay.

Then I head of on my hour + drive to San Bernardino for class.

And somehow I have to squeeze in some reading for homework since I fell asleep last night when I planned on staying up to study. Story of my life at the moment.

Happy Thursday!

Loving December This Year in the Desert

It's been pretty warm for December in Yucca Valley, CA. I've had to bundle up less than a handful of times since Thanksgiving and when I need to bundle up it's usually after the sun goes down behind the mountains. On Friday morning, it was a little chilly...so at least I could wear my favorite red scarf! Although, I did get to wear my new find from Angel View thrift store.

A scarf and sandals...odd combo.

These sandals squeezed my toes to death and I eventually had to change shoes after a few hours. I really just need to break them in so that they stretch out a bit. I don't think they've been worn in such a super long time--when I bought them, the backs of them were sort of bent down like they were squished for a while. I guess I'll just have to wear them more often. I'm afraid it won't be warm for too much longer though. I better wear the heck out of them the next couple of weeks!!

Happy New Year!

A New Project

This Morning, I'm beginning a new project.

I'm going to start making more dessert/fancy snack trays, starting with this one. I just have to remove the stickers, wash 'em up all nice and shiny and then glue them together with my fancy ceramic adhesive.

I love the blue cherry plates I found. I need to do a little more hunting for nice plates and glass candy bowls. I love the way glass and ceramic go so beautifully together.

Maybe I'll find some plates today?!

Can't wait to get started!

Oh, and I'm super excited about all the rad new scrap booking stuff I received for Christmas gifts! And I've been putting off buying storage drawers from Wally-World but now that I see I've made a gi-normous mess of my crafting corner, I think it's time to bite the bullet and get them already. Maybe just 2 to begin with. Right now, everything is either on top of desk, or surrounding it in brown boxes and I can never seem to find anything. I need to get organized and have a system.

Any suggestions?

Happy New Years Eve!!

Today's Thrifting Finds

It's been sooooooo long since I've gone thrifting...I took my sister with me the other day because we had some things to donate.

Here's what I found to bring home:

And I think that was it...but I'm stoked on my new sandals even if they are a little worn. I love the colors and I've been looking for red sandals and flats for-eh-vah. Yeah, that long.

Can't wait to get started on some new dessert stands!

Tomorrow I have a very long day planned.

1. Dentist for 2 fillings at 8am...looking forward to it. NOT.

2. New Year/Christmas party at my boss's house with co-workers. It's a wine Party and I can't drink cause:

3. I have to pick up my little sister from her boyfriend's alllllll the way in Hemet, or Nuevo, CA. I hear it's close to Hemet--and it's about an hour and a half away or so from Yucca. At least as far as I can remember. I haven't been toward Hemet it seems since I got my braces off, uhm--in 2007? That's a LONG time ago.

It's going to be an exhausting-ly long day. I can't wait to give my co-workers their gifts though!!

So Awkward...

There are sooooo many outfit posts and fashion bloggers out there in blogland and I so wish I could be just as fashionable, funky, & fun.

But I have to show this t-shirt that I bought at goodwill. I am so in love with it. I wish I could wear it everyday...

The only way that there could be a more awesome-r shirt is if a shirt had even wider stripes!

♥ This isn't a new find--my love for it has just re-kindled this past week. ♥

What is your favorite find that you just wish you could live in everyday?

Cool Finds & Family Time

Yesterday was just weird--it SNOWED. Remember my post from last weekend? It was about 90-some' degrees and not a cloud in the sky. Yesterday dropped to freezing at about 1pm--what. the. heck.

Aside from the craziness that was the wheather, I had a super cool day with my mom & sis.

First stop was Angelview...one of our local thrift stores that always has awesome things. I was on a mission to find a skirt (yes, I said skirt) for 2 weddings Cory & I are invited to.
 Here's what I found:

and this little baby has pockets! I'm stoked! I think it was about $4--And I ordered some cute charcoal tights, as well as black tights from we love colors. One of the blogs I read suggested buying tights this sight. Since her name escapes me, I will get back to you on which blog it was. PROMISE.
I also found these neat mary janes for about $6, gray belt for about $1, super cute framed cards for $.10/ea., and this adorable little egg owl for $.39! I got the framed cards for my mother in law and the little hooter is for moi. I put him in our bathroom ♥
After the thrifting we headed out to lunch at the C&S cafe. It's a family owned cafe in town that my mom & sis love. Sorry I didn't get any photos of lunch or thrifting. The photos above are sort of after the fact. I was just so excited that I forgot to take pics.

After stuffing our faces and bellies with some chicken salad and soup we headed across the street to the check out the new vintage clothing store. It's only been open for a couple of weeks now and I've been dying to check it out. Again, sorry for not getting photos of the RAD merchandise and decor inside--i was just so excited! Here's the pics that I did get once I remembered I had my camera with me:

And this is what I walked away with:
This skirt is handmade--no tags or anything & it was $4.99! I freakin' love the funkyness of it. Gold and green are so perfect together and I couldn't resist the pattern.

I also found a super neat shirt--not vintage, but still very pretty. They look so similar--I guess when I see one thing I really like, I find others that seem to resemble it.
Maybe this is why I have so many things that don't match, lol.

3 shops down from the Vintage place is the local Candy shop which is also fairly new in YV. We had to check it out--even though I'm not a huge candy fan there is just something so inviting and darn near seductive about cotton candy colored stripes and the fantasy-like colors of candy stores. I have to say I was a tad bit disappointed at the chocolate selection. Although I'm not sure what exactly I expected in the first place. Most of their non-prepackaged candy that you can throw in a bucket to make your own 1 lb bag is salt water taffy. Salt water taffy is delicious but it kills my teeth. I love the feel of the candy store and all the super cool candy bars you can't get anywhere else in town but I thought there would be much more of a variety to mix & match.
Haha! My mom never gives me a good smile--she always ends up giving me a weird smirkish grin. Oh! And this pecan brittle is the BEST brittle anything I've ever tried. If you ever get the chance to try pecan brittle, do not pass it up. Unless of course you are allergic to nuts--then i highly reccomend you find something else to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Near then end of the day we headed off to the bookstore. I found 2 horrific true crime novels I'm anxious to delve into. One is on Ted Bundy, and the other I can't really memember except that it's about something terrible that happens to a family and one of the victims was "Miss Fallbrook" back in like the 70's or 80's and Fallbrook is where I was born and lived until about the 6th grade. Originally I was looking for the third Steig Larsson book but I figure I can buy that later--since I've got so many books to read at the moment.

That was my Saturday, I'm sorry this post was so long winded. I promise I'll have a super short one next time, lol.

Hope you all had an awesome weekend!

Mug Fetish

The other day as I was studying for my second exam in Criminology & sipping my new favorite tea, delicious Cocoa Chai...I realized I forgot to tell you about my newest mugs! A while back I think I sort of told you about my mug infatuation. I have a collection of funky, weird mugs, most of them vintage/retro. Well, since we've moved in with my mother in law--my collection has been packed away in storage. This makes me super sad because the first thing I would do in the morning is pick out the mug that made me happiest that morning and start a pot of coffee. Just because all of my favorite mugs that I've collected since high school are packed away (for who knows how long) doesn't mean that I can't continue to collect, right? I just have to be sure that I absolutely can't live without it if I see the perfect mug in a thrift store...since there isn't much space in my mother in laws cupboards. Here are a few photos of my newest mugs:

I just couldn't pass up this super funky mug! Could you? Seriously made my day when I found it.
This one matches my yellow & green plates...also packed away, so depressing. But this mug cheers me up =) Uhm, please ignore my greasy face & hair, thank you.

What do you collect?

By the way, Happy April Fools Day...watch out!

Neutral

Today I felt a little on the neutral side...the only bright color I wore today besides white was my lime green NP. I wasn't all drab I guess, lol.

Cardi: Thrifted, i.e.
V-Neck T: Target, Mossimo
Brown Corduroys: Thrifted, Papaya
Wedges: Thrifted, Montgomery Ward

I have no idea why my limbs and feet look a freakish color...and please ignore my funky toes, lol!

My awesome Brighton Charms that my granny bought me for my 24th B-Day...♥ my little owl!
As you can probably tell...despite my neutral colors today, I am in a pretty dang good mood.

I think I may change into some tennis shoes & go for a walk down in the wash! This sounds like a wonderful idea--

I'll take my camera with me so I can show you what I find on my little adventure!

Finds ♥

This week is Spring Break...but I work at the library on campus, and we are open during the break--poo. When I got off work at noon today and was driving through Joshua Tree, I decided to stop at the Hi-Desert Medical Center Thrift Store. Sheesh--that was long-winded!

Anyway, I found some pretty, neat silk shirts and a couple of belts. Silk shirts are awesome since I live in the desert--they are so light and cool feeling. Plus, they always have funky patterns on them that I just can't get over. They crack me up! I wore one today actually...this one came from Cory's grandmother. I actually have 2 from her. The only thing that bugs me about them is that they come with shoulder pads, lol. I always cut them out though =)Oh, and one more thing--I hate when the sleeves bunch up when I throw on a cardi. But I still love them

Alien Toes!!
I never wore sandals until after High School--I was so afraid people would look at my feet, lol. I was such a weirdo dork.
Here are my finds from today...I bought a pair of sandals too but I forgot to photograph them :(
Check out the funky patterns!

Corners of our Room

Cory & I recently moved in with his mom to save money for a car & eventually to buy a house of our own...the saving hasn't been able to happen just yet--unexpected car expenses, poo. Anyway, I love that we have the freedom to decorate and have our own space at her house. I am so grateful that she gave us this option ♥ So I'm happy when I see the little corners in our room that makes it so warm and homey. I'm sorry...the first couple came out looking a bit squished :(

A few of my favorite corners ♥

Sunday Thrifting with Family

Sunday was a BLAST! I spent the day with my mom, sisters: Caity (17 soon to be 18 yrs.), and Candace (23 yrs.), and Candace's Boyfriend Eddie...uhm, not sure how old he is but I'm assuming about 22? ANYWAY--Candace now lives in Palm Springs and my mom and Caity hadn't seen her new place yet so I thought it would be cool to spend the day down that way. We checked out her apartment, said hi to the pups and then spent the entire day thrifting!! Woot woot! We found some neat stuff--I bought a couple of shelves for Candace and a Super RAD clay vase that's so quirky I couldn't resist. It has a sketch or stamp of a house or building in a cramped city like San Fransisco or New York...my mom found an outfit...Candace found some jeans...what else? Caity bought Candace a wire figure to put her necklaces on. It was a super awesome day!

What I Wore Thrifting:

Cardi: Target, Jeans: Candies-Gifted from Kohls, Belt: Thrifted, T-Shirt: Target, Vest: Thrifted--no idea what the tag says, lol ♥, Owl Earrings: Gifted from Candace, Shoes: Thrifted and I LOVE them!

Outfit: ♥ Mustard & Magenta

Every morning I spend about 15-20 mins. trying to figure out what to wear before I jump in the shower...it's dumb. I should do this before I go to bed so that I could either sleep in a bit more or give myself time to eat before I rush out the door. But anyway...I just really wanted some color today.
Nothing fancy or attention grabbing...just colors that make me smile :)
This is my favorite scarf by the way--wish I could wear it everday!!

I bought the scarf, and shoes at Angel View--a local thrift store and one of my faves
I bought the cardi at Goodwill down in Cathedral City on my home from work last week...
Jeans--Kohls (gift card)
Earrings--either Claire's or Charlotte Russe, I can't remember.
Bracelet--Pioneer Crossings Antique store here in Yucca Valley (my favorite antique store around & I'm sad to admit that I haven't been there in months :(

Here are a few more 's from etsy.com in like colors!
